It’s been a crazy month…

I’m still here! Although it’s been a while… this month has been interesting, I found a new job, met a few interesting people, had a night out that took a bad (yet still interesting) turn, and there’s a chance that I may be changing career paths (I’ll talk more about that one later).

So as I think I have mentioned before, I used to work at a grocery store in town. After I got back from Atlanta one weekend I basically decided “hey! I don’t want to do this shit anymore!” so I went in on payday to collect my last check, and handed in my letter of resignation. A few days later I ran into a guy that I know through my roommate that asked if I was looking for work, I said yes (hesitantly), and I’m now working for an aircraft manufacturer, setting my own hours, and getting paid more than I was. Plus getting paid to ride around in airplanes is pretty cool, too.

Other than that (minus what I’ll talk about later), things have been fairly uneventful. OH! one of my neighbors that I would hang out with a lot was arrested the other day for stealing a farm tractor… it completely blew my mind, it’s always the quiet ones…

Chicago

So it’s been a while since I last posted, I’ve been busy the past few days. I got home from work on Thursday night at around 10:30, and right after I got home I packed a bag and went on a (nearly) spur of the moment drive to Chicago with my roommate and his Fiancee.

I live an exciting lifestyle…

13 hours and a lot of sleep deprivation later, we arrived.

One thing that this trip made me realize, is that my standards when it comes to females have started to drop from living in Eastman (there are literally 15 girls at the campus I’m at… wtf), so I’m walking around Chicago and I’m starting to notice how attractive a lot of people are… it’s kind of a strange feeling, but a good one I suppose.

I found out about the “Occupy Chicago” protest that was going on, which is a spin off of the Occupy Wall Street protest/movement. This is a movement that I strongly support, and on Sunday while everyone was sitting around, I basically said FUCK THIS I’m going downtown to raise hell. And I did. There’s another “occupy” protest that is going on in Atlanta as well, I wish I was closer to there because I would be down there on the streets in a heartbeat.

All in all, nothing really exciting, it was depressing coming back to redneckland…

Almost forgot. A friend of mine and I installed a new sound system in my car today, so to enjoy it we drove out of town to go have dinner. Afterwards I had to run to the store, so we found a nearby Wal-Mart, and while we were leaving we spotting a van in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart, and there was a guy with the side door open taking a piss in the fucking parking lot… and sure enough his license plate was from Eastman…

The Way These People Drive…

So I have class every Monday-Thursday at 09:30. The college (university for you Canadian people reading this), that I go to has three campuses, and I have classes at two, I live, and fly out of the airport in Eastman, yes, I live on an airport… the main campus is 17 miles from here, so every morning I have to make this commute that can take anywhere from 20-30+ minutes.

Now the speed limit on the highway between the two cities is 55 MPH, fairly standard, I usually set cruise control on 65. The people that live in this area, however, have know idea how to properly handle a car. Not even kidding, there has been maybe 5 or 6 days since I’ve been living down here where I haven’t gotten stuck behind somebody going 35, when the speed limit is 55… nearly EVERYBODY down here drives slow as all hell. It’s like they’re in a perpetual funeral procession for their dying town.

It gets better though, it’s rare that anyone ever looks before they pull out onto the street, just this morning I was going 70, on that same highway, and some redneck in a truck pulled out about 100 ft in front of me and I had to swerve off the road into the grass to avoid hitting him. Asshole. I friend of mine had the same thing happen to him a while back, but wasn’t so lucky, and he totaled his truck. Best part was the woman that pulled out in front of him tried to blame it on him, but there were two cops across the street eating breakfast who saw everything.

I’m starting to think that to get a drivers license down here, the only requirement is that you have a pulse…

So You Might Have Heard of Me

Rumor has it that miss momgonewild has posted a link to this page. Well actually I gave her full permission too, she is a very good friend of mine. But as she tells it I’ve had sort of a “following” and she gets asked a lot of questions about me, so this is your opportunity, ask away, I’ve posted an e-mail address in the about page.

Anyway (I’m really trying not to sound full of myself, I’m really not like that), I’ll use her method of nomenclature and refer to her as “D” from here on out. We’ve had a past, we dated, and yes I broke up with her. But then again I was 14 and didn’t know what the hell I was doing… we’ve all been there. We went through a stretch where neither of us had spoken for a while, and the girl I was dating at the time called me over to her computer and there was a picture of D, getting married… kind of a weird feeling when you think about someone you dated getting married when you’re 17. But that’s history now, and we’re talking again. And she is a great person to have around.

Well Here Goes Nothing

So this is the first blog that I’ve ever created, so bear with me.

It’s the weekend, not a whole lot is going on. No work today (I work at the town grocery store as a cashier, and I hate my job). I was supposed to fly at four today, but that got fucked up because it was too damn windy. Nothing really of interest happened today, had a jet fly overhead going supersonic, sounded like a bomb going off, they do that a lot here, since I live about 45 minutes from one of the biggest Air Force bases in the country…
